At Rarotonga Brewery, we are proud to be at the forefront of the sustainable brewing movement. We have made a conscious choice from the outset to prioritise the environment and reduce the number of single-use bottles that end up in landfills. By doing so, we have saved millions of bottles from entering Rarotonga's already burdened waste management system.

A Sustainable Alternative to Single-Use Bottles

Instead of using single-use bottles, Rarotonga Brewery offers 2L stainless flagons that not only keep your beverage cold for hours but are also equivalent to six standard bottles. Additionally, we provide a 4L flagon that replaces 12 single-use bottles. These flagons are not only convenient but also serve as a sustainable choice for enjoying our refreshing brews.

Kegs: Making a Difference Across the Island

Rarotonga Brewery extends its commitment to sustainability by providing kegs to establishments all around the island. Just one 50L keg is equal to a staggering 150 single-use bottles. By opting for kegs, our partner establishments are contributing to the reduction of millions of bottles that would otherwise end up in the landfill. Together, we are making a significant impact on waste reduction.

Introducing Keepers: Reusable Glass Bottles

To empower individuals who prefer individual servings, Rarotonga Brewery offers Keepers. A reusable 1L glass bottle. By choosing Keepers, you are not only enjoying our exceptional brews but also actively participating in waste reduction efforts. Each time you refill your Keeper, you are eliminating the need for a single-use bottle.

Collaboration for a Greener Future

At Rarotonga Brewery, we understand that reducing waste requires collaboration throughout the supply chain. That's why we actively work with our suppliers to minimise waste. Our grain sacks, which would otherwise be discarded, find new life in the hands of Taro growers, fishermen, and others who have a need for them. By repurposing our waste, we contribute to a circular economy and create a positive impact on the community.

Rarotonga Brewery goes beyond waste reduction by supporting local agriculture and livestock. The malt waste generated during our brews is eagerly collected by pig farmers who are often waiting before we even start brewing at 4:30 am. By providing this valuable resource to farmers, we reduce waste while supporting sustainable farming practices.
